Subjectivity

A woman named Claire entered a wedding reception that was already underway. She headed directly for her seat at Table 28, and didn't stop to make eye contact with anyone.

Three different takes on Claire's entrance then emerged from three different individuals.

One woman said, "Look at Claire Wilson. She thinks she's better than all of us. The 'princess' just walks in and glides to her table. She didn't even smile back to those she passed. Boy, is she cold and stuck up."

A second woman said, "There's Claire, God, she's so beautiful, but she doesn't even know it. She's so shy. If I don't go over and introduce her to people, she'll never have the confidence to do it herself."

While a guy standing nearby said, "Did you see Claire walk in here? She's doing everything she can to avoid me. I don't kniow what I did to piss her off."

As it turned out, Claire's best friend had been in a car accident the day before, and Claire's thoughts as she entered the reception were all about that friend. Will she live? If she does, will she be paralysed? In honour of her cousin's marriage, Claire showed up at the wedding, left quickly, and rejoined her friend at the hospital.
